Excitement already seems to be brewing amongst the Chelsea squad for the imminent arrival of Estevao Willian.

The Brazilian talent has been part of a long-awaited transfer set to reach completion when he joins up with Enzo Maresca's team when they begin pre-season training at Cobham on Monday, August 4.

It had always been the plan for Chelsea to have the 18-year-old in their setup in time for the 2025/26 campaign having agreed a £29m deal, potentially rising to £51m with add-ons, with Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in April 2024.

This summer's FIFA Club World Cup participation from both sides meant Estevao's arrival in the United Kingdom would be delayed, choosing to feature for his boyhood club.

That decision proved bountiful as the teenager's talents were on full display, particularly against European opposition and that included the Blues at the quarter-final stage. Estevao scored but Maresca's team came out 2-1 victors en route to winning the tournament.

That day in Philadelphia, Estevao had his first brush with his future teammates and clearly left his mark.

The Brazil international has taken to social made ahead of his first official day with the Blues, posting on Instagram, which has received likes from Moises Caicedo and Jamie Gittens amongst 182,000 of the social media platform's users.

Estevao's message to his followers read: "I love playing football, and everything I’m living right now feels like a dream.

"After writing a beautiful story at @Palmeiras, getting the chance to live this moment and play in the biggest leagues in the world is something I’ll be forever grateful to God for.

"I made this video so that the @chelseafc fans can get to know me better, see where I come from, and understand that I have a blessed family that’s always by my side, helping me achieve all my goals."

He ended with the Bible verse Romans 12:12, which says: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."

And the video itself shows the 18-year-old talking in Portuguese saying goodbye to his former club, then talking about his family and journey into football to introduce himself to supporters of his new club.

Maresca's team will beg preparations for the new season, which begins on Sunday, August 17 vs Crystal Palace, but they will hope that they will not be too rusty as it was only in mid-July they concluded their Club World Cup adventure.

To prepare for the next challenge they have two summer friendlies scheduled in which Estevao could make his unofficial debut.

The first is against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday, August 8 before the second against AC Milan on Sunday, August 10. Both fixtures take place at Stamford Bridge.
