UPSC Pratibha Setu Scheme: Many candidates for the UPSC exam reach the final round i.e. interview. But if their name does not appear in the UPSC merit list, they are declared unsuccessful. Then they have to prepare for UPSC CSE afresh next year. This is also the last attempt for many candidates. The Union Public Service Commission has started a new initiative called UPSC Pratibha Setu Scheme for these candidates.

UPSC will provide job opportunities in private and public sectors (Sarkari Naukri) under 'UPSC Pratibha Setu' to talented candidates who could not make it to the merit list by reaching the final round (interview) in the Civil Services Examination. Earlier it was known as the Public Disclosure Scheme (PDS). This scheme is very beneficial for those candidates who want to get a job in the government or private sector without wasting years.

What is the Pratibha Setu Portal?

The main objective of the 'Pratibha Setu' portal is to identify and utilize the talent of those UPSC candidates who reach the final round stage of the Civil Services Examination but are not selected for posts like IAS, IPS, and IFS. This portal allows private and government institutions to directly contact such candidates. This initiative of UPSC is a new opportunity for lakhs of candidates who miss the final selection despite hard work. This portal will become a bridge to reach their qualifications, knowledge, and skills to the employers.

How will you get a job through this?

The UPSC 'Pratibha Setu' portal shares the data of those candidates who reached the interview round stage of the UPSC Civil Services Examination but could not be included in the final merit list. The following information will be available on the portal:

Candidate's profile: Educational qualification, optional subjects, and marks obtained in the interview.

Consent-Based Sharing: The candidate's information will be shared with employers only after their consent.

Access to employer: Verified private and government organizations can contact candidates through the portal. This portal provides employers with a reliable database from which they can hire qualified candidates in fields like management, analysis, and policy-making

Benefits for UPSC candidates
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered to be one of the toughest examinations in the world, in which only 0.02% of the candidates can succeed. Pratibha Setu Portal provides an alternative career path for those candidates who reach the final stage of this difficult process. It has many benefits:

Use of skills: Analytical, communication, and leadership skills developed during UPSC preparation can be used in private sectors, PSUs and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Diverse opportunities: Opportunities will be available in fields like management, journalism, teaching and entrepreneurship.

Social impact: Candidates can fulfill their goal of social service by working in various fields.

Other career options for UPSC candidates
UPSC candidates already have many alternative career options, which this portal further strengthens. Some of the major options are:
State Public Service Commission (State PSC): State-level exams like Maharashtra PSC or Uttar Pradesh PSC offer opportunities in local administration.
Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs): Jobs in engineering, finance and management offer stability and good salaries.
Education and research: The knowledge acquired during UPSC preparation can be used for teaching or research fellowships in universities.
