Due to the situation created after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, India, and Pakistan have taken several steps against each other. In this episode, Pakistan has closed its airspace for Indian flights. That is, no Indian airline can fly over Pakistan. Given this, Air India has announced to change its route.
Air India has said, "Due to Pakistan's ban on its airspace for Indian airlines, some flights will now have to take a longer alternative route. This will affect those flights that are coming and going from North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. Air India has regretted the inconvenience caused to its passengers and has said that this situation is unexpected and beyond their control."
IndiGo also changed the route.
IndiGo has also accepted that its international flights have been affected due to this step of Pakistan. The airline said, "Due to Pakistan's sudden announcement of closing the airspace, some of our international flights are being affected. We understand that this may cause inconvenience to the passengers and our teams are trying their best to ensure that you reach your destination as soon as possible." The airline further said, "We request passengers to check the latest status of their flights. If your flight is affected, you can opt for flexible rebooking or claim a refund through our website. We appreciate your patience and cooperation and are committed to supporting our citizens in this challenging time."
Relations broken from both sides
India has suspended the Indus River Agreement with Pakistan. Apart from this, all Pakistani citizens have been asked to leave India within 48 hours. Also, trade with Pakistan through the Attari land border has been stopped. In response, Pakistan has also canceled the visas of Indians. Any kind of trade has been banned. The airspace has been closed for Indian planes. Also, the Shimla Agreement has been postponed.
