RCB maintain 100% away win record, defeat DC by 6 wickets

Is this Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) season? While many joked at the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 tournament, it seems RCB has taken the "18th season for Jersey No. 18" seriously. The Bengaluru franchise defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets in 18.3 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

With this victory, RCB have now won all six of their away games and all four games in which they chased this season. Not only have they kept their 100% away win record intact, but they've also climbed to the top of the points table.

Orange, Purple caps in RCB camp

RCB became the first team to secure 14 points, and it looks like just one more wins will be enough to guarantee a spot in the Playoffs. The celebrations continued for RCB fans, as Virat Kohli earned the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in IPL 2025, with 443 runs. Meanwhile, in the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood claimed the Purple Cap with 18 wickets.

About the chase

RCB bounced back from their earlier loss to DC at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium with a strong performance. Kohli, the local boy, returned to his basics and guided Krunal Pandya in a 119-run partnership after 3 early wickets fell. This partnership is not only RCB's highest for any wicket but also the highest for the 4th wicket or lower by any team in IPL 2025.

During the chase, RCB lost debutant Jacob Bethell (12 off 6), Devdutt Padikkal (0 off 2), and Rajat Patidar (6 off 6, run out) in quick succession. Kohli (51 off 47) and Krunal (73* off 47) steadied the ship while DC saw Abhishek Porel drop Pandya at 54.

After Kohli's dismissal, Tim David (19 off 5) came in and finished the game ahead of schedule, securing RCB's 7th win. With 7 wins, RCB is closing in on the playoffs and looking like one of the teams to beat this season.
