Hosts Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched an 11-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 42 of the ongoing (Indian Premier League) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24. The victory marked their first home win of the season after three back-to-back losses.

RCB posted 205 for the loss of five wickets. The hosts were powered by ’s 70 (42) and a 50 (27) from Devdutt Padikkal. Jitesh Sharma (20* off 10) ended up unbeaten at the end, Wanindu Hasaranga and Jofra Archer conceded only 30 and 33 runs in their four-over spells. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal fell one short of a well-deserved half-century on 49 (19). RR were on top at the end of the halfway stage. Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma returned with economical spells of 2/31 and 0/31, respectively. Josh Hazlewood was the star of the show, ending up with a splendid four-wicket haul. Dhruv Jurel's 47-run knock went in vain.

2. Jaiswal tonks Bhuvneshwar for a first-ball six

The left-handed batter kicked off RR's reply with a bang by smoking a shortish delivery by Bhuvneshwar for a massive maximum into the stands. The pull was a sweetly timed one by the top-order batter.

3. Hazlewood's miserly double-wicket over tilts the game towards RCB

With 18 required off 12, RR were on track to notch up the win and keep RCB winless at home. However, Hazlewood's accurate display of bowling accounted for a couple of wickets, with only one over being conceded.
