In a high-octane contest at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally broke their home jinx in the , defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs in Match 42 of the season. After losing three consecutive matches at home, RCB's long-awaited triumph came in a nail-biter.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan opted to field first. RCB openers Phil Salt (26 off 23) and Virat Kohli (70 off 42) gave the hosts a blazing start, with Kohli in sublime touch, anchoring the innings with his trademark fluency. Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 27) added further impetus, and a late cameo from Tim David (23 off 15) powered RCB to a daunting 205/5. Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the RR bowlers, grabbing two wickets for 45 runs, while Jofra Archer and Wanindu Hasaranga chipped in with one wicket each.
Chasing 206, RR began with aggression. Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed 49 off 19 deliveries, but once Hazlewood dismissed him, the momentum shifted. Krunal Pandya’s double blow, removing Nitish Rana (28) and Riyan Parag (22), choked the middle order. Dhruv Jurel (47 off 34) fought valiantly, but wickets tumbled quickly at the death.
Hazlewood was the star with the ball, finishing with a superb 4/33, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal provided crucial breakthroughs. In the end, Rajasthan Royals fell short, managing 194/9 in their 20 overs.
