Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Jyotiraditya Scindia said that they have received feedback from people over cyber-awareness caller tunes on mobile phones and added they are looking into the issue.
His utterance came on a memorandum handed over by former MLA and senior BJP leader Sudarshan Gupta to him urging reconsideration of the government’s ongoing use of cyber-awareness caller tunes on mobile phones.
As part of the Centre’s nationwide campaign to combat cyber fraud, a pre-call audio message currently plays before most mobile calls, warning users not to share OTPs, bank details or personal information.
While the initiative is widely appreciated for its proactive stance on digital security, many users are reportedly facing operational inconveniences due to the caller tune’s mandatory presence.

“Campaigns like Digital Arrest are necessary,” Gupta wrote in his memorandum, “but instead of caller tunes during every call, awareness should be promoted through alternative platforms like SMS alerts, social media, television and radio. This would ensure both awareness and convenience go hand in hand.”
Responding to the concerns, Scindia acknowledged the issue and assured appropriate action:
“We have already received feedback from users regarding this. The ministry is exploring technical solutions, and necessary instructions will be issued to the concerned departments,” he said.
