In a major breakthrough, the Parksite Police have arrested a habitual criminal from Gujarat in connection with a violent robbery in the BMC Colony area of Vikhroli West, Mumbai. The accused, Tabrez alias Pappu Bismillakhan Pathan, 31, was tracked down and arrested from Akundra in Mehsana district, Gujarat.
According to the police, the crime occurred on July 7, when the victim, 54-year-old Nurjaha Munaf Khan, was alone at her residence. At around 2:20 PM, the accused forcefully entered the house and physically assaulted Nurjaha before fleeing with gold jewelry weighing approximately 50 grams including four gold bangles (40 grams) and a gold chain (10 grams).
The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack and was rushed by her husband, Munaf Rahim Khan,65, to Rajawadi Hospital before being shifted to a private facility for further treatment. A formal complaint was subsequently lodged at the Parksite Police Station.
Recognising the severity of the case, four separate police teams were formed and reviewed over 250 CCTV camera feeds across multiple locations. Surveillance footage revealed the accused’s escape route from the crime scene to Vikhroli station, then to Dadar, and finally Bandra Terminus.
During the investigation, the police suspected that the attacker was known to the victim family. Their hunch was confirmed when relatives identified the man in the footage as Tabrez a family acquaintance.
