Raid 2, the sequel to the 2018 hit starring Ajay Devgn, has had a solid start at the box office. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film, which also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor, opened strong but saw a dip in its collection on the second day.
According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Raid 2 earned Rs 11.50 crore on Friday (Day 2), following an impressive Rs 19.25 crore on its opening day. With this, the film’s total two-day collection in India stands at Rs 30.75 crore. Despite the drop, the film remains on track to cross the Re 50 crore mark by the end of its opening weekend, provided it holds steady over the next two days.
On Friday, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 13.73 per cent. Morning shows saw 7.13 per cent occupancy, which picked up in the afternoon with 16.08 per cent, and rose slightly more in the evening to 17.99 per cent.
The weekend growth will be crucial in determining the film’s long-term success at the box office.
The film's release on a public holiday, Maharashtra Day, helped the film earn an impressive amount on Day 1.
Raid 2 sees Ajay return as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who takes on a powerful antagonist, Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Riteish. The high-stakes crime thriller drama is inspired by real-life income tax raids and builds on the legacy of the 2018 film, which also featured Saurabh Shukla and Ileana D’Cruz.
With patriotic themes, intense drama, and star power, Raid 2 aims to appeal to both masses and multiplex audiences. The weekend trend will determine whether it emerges as one of the year’s major box office hits. All eyes are now on Saturday’s figures and it will be interesting to see if the film manages to maintain its pace through the weekend.
