Uttar Pradesh Launches Skilling Drive Under Zero Poverty Campaign, Guarantees Jobs In Top Firms

Send Push

A major skilling initiative has been launched under the Zero Poverty Campaign in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at transforming the economic future of the state's most vulnerable families. In the first phase, heads of 300 families identified through the campaign will receive structured, job oriented skill training designed to connect them directly with employment in leading private sector firms.

The program is envisioned as a long term intervention to break the cycle of poverty by equipping beneficiaries with practical skills aligned to current industry needs. Upon completion of the training, candidates will be placed in national and international firms such as Hotel Taj, SBI, L&T Limited, Medanta, and the Adani Group  with a guaranteed minimum monthly salary of `18,400. According to Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, the effort focuses on providing families not only with income but also with the tools to participate in the formal economy. Rather than one-time aid or subsidies, the program seeks to enable self-reliance and long-term stability. The training program, overseen by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Department and supported by approximately 1,000 training partners, will follow a 360-degree development model.

Seven skill domains have been identified  including hospitality, housekeeping, guest services, office and toilet cleaning along with communication and workplace language training to support integration into formal workplaces.

The broader goal is to create a framework where the poorest families can access structured employment pathways in the private sector. Businesses across the country and abroad have shown significant interest in supporting the campaign, with over 40 corporate leaders committing to hiring trained candidates.
