Lucknow: Three day Mango Festival 2025 kicked off at Awadh Shilp Gram in Lucknow, featuring more than 800 mango varieties from across India. The event celebrates mango diversity, horticultural innovation, and the growing role of Uttar Pradesh in India’s fruit export ecosystem.
Organized with participation from farmers, exporters, scientists, and food processing units, the festival offers a platform to promote mango-based trade and technology. Mangoes like Dussehri from Lucknow, Langda from Varanasi, Amrapali from Basti, Gaurjeet from Gorakhpur, and Ratol from western UP were among the most admired.
Modern pack houses set up in Lucknow, Amroha, Saharanpur, and Varanasi are also highlighted as key contributors to export readiness. These centers help fruit growers meet global quality standards, while offering sorting, grading, and packaging support for overseas shipments.
Alongside the exhibition, the festival features seminars, buyer-seller meets, and experience-sharing sessions by progressive farmers. Experts are guiding attendees on mango preservation, value addition, and processing for longer shelf-life and higher returns.
The event’s emphasis remains on sustainable practices, modern horticulture techniques, and farmer training. As part of broader agro-initiatives, officials also promoted the upcoming plantation drive which was scheduled for July 9 where 50 crore saplings will be planted across the state.
