Lewis Hamilton fans concerned after hearing F1 star's radio message to Ferrari team

Lewis Hamilton's downbeat communications over team radio have left fans concerned about the Formula 1 legend. The Ferrari ace had a weekend to forget in Hungary as he finished 12th and a lap behind winner Lando Norris.

The seven-time champion was frustrated with his performance over the course of the Grand Prix as he finished in the position he qualified in. The 40-year-old was well off the pace of Charles Leclerc, who took pole position for the Italian team.

Leclerc sparked jubilant scenes in the Ferrari garage by as he secured the team's first Grand Prix pole of the season. It was a stark contrast to the scenes that saw Hamilton become emotional following a disappointing outing.

Before the race had even started the veteran declared: "It's me every time. I'm useless, absolutely useless. The team have no problem. You've seen the car's on pole so we probably need to change driver."

Even when ensured his assessment was wrong, Hamilton was adamant in reply. "It clearly is," he said. "I just drove terribly. It is what it is."

And following his drive on Sunday, Hamilton quickly turned to offering his team an apology. He said: "Really sorry about this weekend guys, for losing you points."

Team chief Frederic Vasseur attempted to take the pressure off of his driver. "He spent 20 years in the same environment," said the Frenchman.

"It is a huge change. The car cannot cope with his driving style yet. But I want both cars fighting for podiums."

Fans of Hamilton showed concern in the aftermath of the day's racing. "He should’ve never left Mercedes. And retired from the same team," one supporter said.

"At least there would be a legacy. (NOT THAT HE ALREADY DOESN’T HAVE) but listening to him speak like this is heartbreaking. God forbid Ferrari can’t provide a better car to him."

"It would’ve been great if he had just retired after the two wins to prove to his critics he doesn’t need the best car on the grid to win, or even stayed this year to get decent results," said another. "Ferrari broke Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen, and Leclerc. No idea why he’d think he was different."

"The team need to take some responsibility for this," one social media user said. "Stopped Lewis too early where he could have gone further then had fresher tyres for the last quarter. Again PPP from the team!"

"Talk about someone who needs the summer break .. decompress Lewis and come back and kick *** the second half," encouraged another.

"Stop blaming himself for Ferrari wrong doing," pleased a fan. "When he will realize that this car was design for Charles and not for him? Until the suspension update he was at Lec level and being faster occasionally."
