The mum of a two-year-old boy who was mauled to death by dogs has spoken about the ‘devastating and traumatising scene’ she witnessed when she came back from work.
Kaimir Jones was found dead in 48 year old Stacy Wheeler Cobb’s backyard around 3:45 pm on Saturday October 4th, according to police.
Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, wrote that her “intuition” pushed her to leave work early and check on her son after not hearing from his childminder for hours, according to a blurb on GoFundMe.
“This was a heartbreaking, devastating and traumatising scene that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I found my baby like this,” she wrote.

The childminder, from Georgia, has since been arrested for allegedly running an unlicensed daycare. It was her rottweilers who killed the two-year-old boy in her care while she took a nap, reports the New York post.
Cobb came “highly recommended” according to the distraught mother. The Valdosta Police Department said the toddler slipped out of the house while Cobb was napping for a few hours and accidentally unlocked the kennel housing the Rottweilers.
Police said that Kaimir’s mother left him in Cobb’s care and that he was the only child on site that day. Officials added that Cobb’s allegedly unlicensed daycare would often hold up to 10 children at once.
Cobb told authorities that she “thought the child was well” while she napped for a little over two hours, according to the press release.
“This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred, but because of negligence on this offender’s behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child. I want to express our department’s deepest sympathy to the family,” VPD Chief Leslie Manahan said.
“No words will ever ease their pain, but our hearts go out to them during this unimaginably difficult time. I also keep our first responders in my prayers, as they continue processing their response to this tragic scene.”
Cobb was charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children. The Rottweilers involved in the incident, along with a third dog found at Cobb’s home, were turned over to the Lowndes County Animal Control, according to the press release.
Animal behaviour experts say children should never be left alone with dogs they don’t know and that children should be stopped from approaching unfamiliar dogs.
Experts recommend the following guidelines for children around dogs:
Never Leave Unattended: The golden rule is to always supervise interactions between children and dogs and to separate them if active supervision isn't possible.
Teach Gentle Interaction: Children should be taught to be gentle and polite with dogs, avoiding actions like pulling ears or climbing on them.
Recognize a Dog's Needs: Teach children to recognize when a dog needs space and to allow the dog to retreat to a safe place when it seems unhappy or stressed.
Respect Dog Boundaries: Instruct children not to approach dogs when they are eating, sleeping, playing with a favorite toy, or feeling unwell.
