It's not always easy to bite our tongues when it comes to the actions and opinions of our in-laws - and one mum is fed up of her mother-in-law's comments about her daughter's name. Deciding what to name your child is a huge decision. Some people have their children's names picked out for years, while others have no idea where to begin.
Many love traditional names, the kind you would find in the Royal Family household, while others opt for something that sounds friendly, and other parents-to-be go for something totally unique. Family, friends, favouriteTV, film and book characters, Greek mythology or historical references can often be used as inspiration for names.
A couple were delighted when they welcomed their first child, a little girl. The new mother took to Reddit to explain that they came up with a name that would honour her husband's late dad, as well as a middle name that would honour the mum's late grandmother. The name is Rae Elizabeth.
"Everyone loved the name but his mother," the new mum shared.
The annoyed new parent shared further information about her mother-in-law: "His mother has been in and out of his life growing up leaving his father being a single dad up until his passing, he then was in foster care until he turned 18.
"Now, ever since we officially announced our daughter's birth along with her name. I've got nothing but pure hate from his mother."

She noted that her boyfriend's mother "despised" her son's father. "I'm guessing this was part of the reason why she hates the name," added the Reddit post.
She continued: "She said that it's not a suitable name for a baby girl along with other hurtful comments. I ended up blocking her because I don't want anything negative on my Facebook page regarding our daughter.
"Everyone else in the family his and mine both love the name. It's simple sweet and will grow with her."
She concluded: "We have no regrets in naming our daughter her name. We love it." Another said: "There is absolutely nothing wrong with this name! It's beautiful, it's meaningful and clearly you did put a lot of thought into it."
Issuing support, one individual said: "Rae is a lovely name for a little girl. Elizabeth is timeless. You're already doing a great job of loving your daughter and keeping her safe. Keep focusing on you and your family, and anyone who wants to be ugly is not welcome."
Another said: "Rae is a pretty gender neutral/feminine name, and boys names these days are not uncommon for girls anyways. Your mother-in-law sounds like she's nuts. If she wasn't close enough to get a say in your daughter's name before she was born, she certainly doesn't get a say in it now."
One other said: "She sucks. Keep doing what you're doing." Another pointed out: "Oh well. She will get over it and if she doesn’t, that’s her problem."
Another wrote: "It's a solid name - I like it. I wouldn't worry too much about someone who is just likely just jealous no one would ever think to name their baby after them."
Another commented: "The fact she couldn't mother her own child even at 15 tells the story. Just ignore her and stop inviting her around or letting her in."
