Having someone turn up at your house unannounced can be unsettling, especially if they're a stranger. People might knock on your door for all sorts of reasons, from kids asking if they can have their ball back after accidentally kicking it over your fence, to salespeople trying to get you to upgrade your windows.
But what would you do if a man you didn't recognise turned up at your doorstep? Charissa Enget found herself in that situation when she was woken up at 7am by her doorbell, only to find that a who didn't appear to be a salesman was standing outside her house.
When the doorbell went off for the first time, Charissa assumed it was salespeople and refused to get out of bed. The doorbell was then rung three more times, and the pushy nature of the mystery visitor left her "freaked out", so she decided to check her Ring doorbell camera.

On her porch was a "big man with a dog" that Charissa had never seen before. The woman chose not to answer the door because she had no idea who the man was, and because she was alone in the house at the time.
In a video on , she said: "The only thing I can think of is like, a stalker or someone with bad intentions. A lot of times, a serial killer will bring a cute dog or something so they can lure people in, and make them think they're docile when they're not. Why did he want to reach me so bad that he rang my doorbell four times?"
By the end of the day, she had mostly forgotten about the interaction - until the man showed up again.
She said her partner had gone to see a film by himself at the cinema, so she had gone to the shop to treat herself to a cosy night with pizza, cookie dough and video games. But, while she was at the shop, her partner messaged her to say that the man had returned and rang their doorbell "a bunch of times" again.
He had left by the time Charissa was finished with her shopping, but the news left the woman rattled, and she was nervous to get out of her car with her shopping out of fear that the man could still be lurking.
An hour and a half later, the doorbell rings again, and the man is back. Charissa said she was "fully freaked out" by this point but wanted to get to the bottom of things, so she spoke to him without opening her door via her doorbell camera.
After asking him what he was doing at her house, Charissa finally learned the truth - he was trying to return her wallet.
She said: "I asked him, 'Can I help you?', and he was like, 'Yeah, this morning I found a wallet on the sidewalk and the address on the ID is to this house. I was just trying to return it.'
"I see the wallet in his hand, and it's my wallet. I have one of these things that magnetically attaches to your phone, and apparently, it fell off, and I never even noticed. I knew it was gone, I just figured I left it in my house somewhere, and I was going to find it eventually.
"He was just a good Samaritan who was really trying to get it back to me."
Commenters on the post were divided. Some people said Charissa could have avoided any confusion by just asking the man what he was doing at her house the first time he rang the doorbell.
Others said the man could have dropped the wallet through her letterbox instead of turning up on her doorstep at "odd hours".
One person said: "Girl, you could've solved this problem if you asked him what he wanted on the Ring camera the first time." Another added: "Why didn't he just stick it in the mailbox and leave a message on the ring camera or something? No one wants to answer the door to random people."
