After Team India’s loss to England in the first Test at Leeds, former India wicketkeeper-batsman and commentator Dinesh Karthik sparked controversy by comparing India’s batting lineup to a Doberman dog. He said the Indian batting order has a strong top, some in the middle, but “nothing at the bottom,” criticizing the poor lower-order performance.
Karthik also became a topic of discussion for joking about his huge number of clothes during the tour. Posting on Instagram, he wrote about running out of clothes for commentary, which prompted a funny comeback from Team India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep commented, “You have 5 suitcases full,” to which Karthik humorously replied that only one suitcase will be taken for the next Test due to budget reasons.
While Karthik faces criticism for his harsh analogy of the team’s batting, Arshdeep’s light-hearted banter has caught fans’ attention and eased the tension somewhat.
