Mumbai: Inox Group executive director Siddharth Jain has become the first businessman to buy a Tesla after Elon Musk’s EV company launched the car in India in July this year.
Jain posted a message on X along with a photograph of his with the car. He tagged Musk and said that he was thrilled to receive India Inc’s first Tesla.
The ex-showroom price of the Tesla’s base model is Rs 59.89 lakh. The fully-loaded version goes up to Rs 73.89 lakh. The in-roads prices will include taxes and other charges.
“This one’s for you @ElonMusk!!! I am beyond thrilled to receive India Inc’s 1st Tesla,” Jain posted on Monday.
Jain went on to say how he had been waiting for his own Tesla since 2017, when he visited the company’s factory in Fremont, California. “Dreams do come true,” he wrote.
“India Inc” stands for the organised corporate sector of India. It refers to the community of Indian companies, industries and businesses operating in India.
Several social media users congratulated Jain on his acquisition.
While Jain may be the first from India Inc to receive a Tesla, he is not the first person from the country to buy one.
According to Hindustan Times, Maharashtra transport minister Pratap Sarnaik became the first customer in India to get the Model Y Tesla earlier this month, two months after the American electric vehicle (EV) maker opened its first showroom in Mumbai.
