Fried eggs are a beloved breakfast staple, but achieving that perfect balance with crispy edges, set whites, and a runny yolk can be surprisingly tricky. While they seem simple to make, they often turn out greasy or overly heavy due to too much oil or cooking spray. Worse still, they can easily be overcooked and lose their appeal.

Though oil is the go-to for many, it can sometimes overpower the eggs' natural flavour, leaving them tasting overly rich or even slightly nauseating for some. If you're after delicious, perfectly cooked fried eggs without the grease, TikTok food creator Sugar Pink Food has shared an effortless hack that might just change your breakfast game at no cost.

With over 82,8K followers, she posted a video that has been liked by over 6,000 people revealing her secret ingredient, water.

She said in the video: "I'm going to show you exactly how to get these perfect eggs. Trust the process, I promise this works.

"I always cook my fried eggs like this. I don't add any oil or anything else at all."

The TikTokker starts by adding a small amount of water to the pan and letting it heat up before gently cracking in the eggs.

Then, she adds a dash of water to either side of the pan and quickly covers it with a lid. The steam created by the water helps cook the eggs evenly without sticking, and there's no need for oil or butter.

After a few minutes, the eggs will be soft, with tender whites and perfectly runny yolks without the greasy and sickly aftertaste.

This method can be especially beneficial for those managing digestive issues like acid reflux. By skipping the oil, you reduce the heaviness and richness that can trigger it.

Using water instead makes fried eggs lighter, less greasy, and much gentler on the stomach all while keeping the flavour clean and satisfying.

One person commented on the video saying: "I appreciate this! I've recently had to change my diet for health reasons, and I'm struggling with doing oil-free, and I will try this!"

One TikToker also wrote that it's the "only way" they cook fried eggs while another added: "I can safely say it is 100% true, I have actually been doing this for years and like this way better. Normal fried eggs give me really bad acid reflux, sometimes vomiting, but not with this method."
