Gerwyn Price staged a sensational comeback to clinch the Poland Darts Masters title, edging out Stephen Bunting in a nail-biting final. The Welsh star, who had spectacularly levelled the score at 2-2 with a 137 checkout, found himself trailing 4-2 at the break in the PreZero Arena in Gliwice. However, he rallied to take a 7-5 lead.
Bunting clawed back into contention and capitalised on Price's missed trio of match darts at double top, pushing the match to a deciding leg. Price, boasting an average north of 103, sealed victory with a clinical 17, double 17, double-top finish, winning 8-7. Post-match, Price reflected on his performance: "I missed loads of doubles in that game - I missed three darts at double top, my favourite double, and then obviously a couple of legs where I missed loads and loads of doubles.
"But to go in the final leg when Stephen is sat on a double and go double, double when I couldn't hit one all night, then fantastic. I'm over the moon."
Bunting secured his spot in the final after dispatching world champion Luke Littler 7-3 in the semi-finals.
Littler staved off five match darts and notched a 170 finish to keep his hopes alive at 6-2 down, but it was short-lived as Bunting advanced with a precise treble 18, double 16 finish.
Price demonstrated his prowess against Rob Cross, overturning a 2-0 deficit by claiming seven of the following eight legs for a commanding 7-3 semi-final victory.
Earlier, Littler had ousted another 'big fish', securing a 6-3 quarter-final victory over Nathan Aspinall and avenging consecutive World Series losses to his fellow countryman in Copenhagen and New York.
Price breezed to a 6-2 triumph over Chris Dobey, while Cross scraped past Michael van Gerwen 6-4 without being at his best, and Bunting required a deciding leg to defeat Poland's number one Krzysztof Ratajski 6-5.
