Britain's Got Talent viewers issued the same complaint minutes into the second semi-final on Saturday (May 3).
The hit talent show returned to screens tonight for another live semi-final, with eight more acts performing for a place in the grand final.
During the show, fans were treated to performances from magician Alexandra Burgio, dancers Cheer re Mans, magician and dancer Jannick Holste, singer John Pierce, dancers Lil M's, guitarist Olly Pearson, singer Stacey Leadbeatter and impressionist Will Burns.
Hosts Ant and Dec quickly confirmed that head judge Simon Cowell would be in charge of the coveted Golden Buzzer, which could send an act straight through to the grand final.
After a rousing operatic number by music teacher John Pierce, Simon started to extend his commendations, only to be interrupted by a raucous crowd shouting "press the gold", reports .
Simon's exasperation was palpable as he retorted, "I can hear you!" amidst the rising clamour.
Later in the show, Japanese dance troupe Cheer re Mans took to the stage with an impressive performance that left the judges speechless.
The audience also loved the act, with many imploring Simon to press his buzzer, despite him already sending 11-year-old guitarist Olly Pearson through to the final.
"I don't have another one, I could try," Simon said as he was faced with the relentless chants.
Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon quickly stopped Simon from reaching for the golden buzzer, with Ant and Dec confirming that "he can't press it again".
Ant said that the buzzer had been "disabled", with Dec adding: "It's a lovely idea, but if you press it, nothing happens."
"They asked me to," Simon then said as the audience began to loudly boo.
However, BGT viewers weren't impressed with the chaos that ensued, with one person writing on X (formerly Twitter): "Can't hear what Simon is saying with the audience screaming."
"It sounds like a football stadium on #BritainsGotTalent," another added, while a third said: "Simon's not gonna press the buzzer ffs. The audience can be so annoying."
A fourth viewer similarly shared: "The golden buzzer is a stupid system. You don't know what's coming next and the audience would buzzer them all if they could."
Alongside golden buzzer winner Olly, singer Stacey Leadbeatter also secured her place in the final after receiving the highest number of viewer votes.
