Jadon Sancho 'set for Prem transfer lifeline' as Man Utd braced for dream approach

Jadon Sancho could be handed a lifeline to remain in the Premier League as Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a swoop to land him from Manchester United. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but the Blues paid a financial penalty to avoid signing him on a permanent deal.

Sancho spent two-and-a-half years with the Manchester City academy before joining Borussia Dortmund as a 17-year-old in 2017. He excelled in Germany, where he bagged 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances. The winger was then snapped up by the Red Devils for £73million in 2021 but struggled for form at Old Trafford, before having a public falling out with former boss Erik ten Hag. He returned to Dortmund on loan before his temporary spell with Chelsea. And he has now been told to train at a later time than his United team-mates, as have Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.

According to The Sun, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is prepared to bankroll a deal to take Sancho to the City Ground.

The East Midlands outfit see the Englishman as a dream replacement for Anthony Elanga, who quit Forest to join Newcastle a week ago.

Elanga impressed for Forest in the Premier League after being offloaded by the Red Devils two years ago. And Forest believe Sancho could follow a similar redemption arc to his former United team-mate and find his stride in Nottingham.

Sancho featured 41 times for Chelsea in all competitions last season but only contributed five goals and 10 assists.

He was part of the Blues squad that lifted the UEFA Conference League trophy in May, although he was omitted from the starting line-up in the final as he came off the bench to net Chelsea's third goal as the English team defeated Real Betis.

He has since been linked with a move to Juventus, with the Italian club reportedly striking an agreement with Sancho over personal terms.

Sancho still has plenty to offer at the top of the game and would be a nightmare for Premier League defenders to deal with if he can rediscover his best form away from Manchester.

And after bagging a wonder goal against Tottenham in December last year, the player explained: "In training I've been working on my shooting a bit more.

"The staff and the players have been telling me to be a bit more selfish in front of goal, so I've been working on that."
