Roma have reportedly reached out to Manchester United regarding the potential loan signing of Jadon Sancho.

Sancho, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, has been training alone at Carrington after Chelsea decided against a permanent deal following his loan spell last season.

Chelsea had to pay a £5million penalty fee to break their obligation to sign Sancho. The winger is now on the hunt for a new club and Roma have approached United to discuss the terms of a possible loan, which includes an obligation clause.

Roma have suggested a season-long loan with an obligation to purchase Sancho for £20million next summer.

Earlier in the transfer window, Sancho was strongly linked with Juventus, but that interest has since waned and Roma have emerged as the leading contenders to sign the 25-year-old.

Chelsea concluded that Sancho's contribution of five goals and 10 assists last season did not justify the wages he demanded, and they opted to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund instead.

United acquired Sancho from Borussia Dortmund for £72.8million in the summer of 2021 and former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that he could become a top-tier player at Old Trafford.

Upon his arrival at United, Sancho was an England international and one of the most thrilling players in Europe.

However, before his disagreement with Erik ten Hag, Sancho had scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 83 appearances for United.

The fallout led to him missing four months of competitive football, after which he returned to Dortmund on loan for the second half of the 2023/2024 season in a bid to regain form.

In a last-minute deal on the final day of last summer's transfer window, Chelsea swooped in to sign Sancho on loan.
