will need more than a bit of help to lift out of their 15th-place slumber next season. And he is set to get it, with Red Devils chiefs making moves early in the summer transfer window to try and give the ex-Sporting manager the reinforcements he needs.
A deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is practically done, according to reports, and star Bryan Mbeumo is believed to be the next attacking star in United's crosshairs. Here, Express Sport takes you through how Amorim could set his side up next campaign if he lands the pair, plus two more important acquisitions...
Man Utd's incredible XI (3-4-3)Goalkeeper: E. MARTINEZ
Andre Onana missing out entirely on the final-day defeat to Aston Villa may suggest that he is on his way out of Old Trafford this summer. And he could swap places with the Villa stopper who was sent off on Sunday, Emi Martinez, as United are among the clubs rumoured to be keeping tabs on the World Cup winner.
Defence: Yoro, De Ligt, L. Martinez
The Red Devils have already spent a vast amount on improving their defence in recent years, and the result is plenty of options for Amorim to choose from. Leny Yoro is cementing his place on the right side of the back-three, Matthijs De Ligt edges out Harry Maguire for the central role, and Lisandro Martinez nips in over Ayden Heaven on the left.

Midfield: Mazraoui, Fernandes, Casemiro, Dorgu
Manuel Ugarte may be the long-term heir to Casemiro but the Brazilian finished the season in such strong form, Amorim would be stupid not to consider him a starter for the start of next term. United chiefs need to do all they can to ensure Bruno Fernandes remains at the club to start alongside him.
Fans were unconvinced by Diogo Dalot in 2024/25, boosting the chances of utility man Noussair Mazraoui getting the right wing-back berth on a long-term basis. And Patrick Dorgu should get better and better as he matures on the left.
Attack: MBEUMO, DELAP, CUNHA
Up top is where the extreme makeover needs to happen, and it looks like it's going to. Mbeumo, Liam Delap and Cunha were all well into double figures for Brentford, Ipswich and Wolves respectively this season - a feat no United player managed in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are believed to have held talks with Mbeumo's representatives, they are waiting for an answer from Delap amid rival interest from a host of clubs, and the bulk of the work to sign Cunha is reportedly complete. They could, therefore, form a potent attacking trio next campaign.
Of the three stars in question, the Delap deal is the one hanging in the balance, with Chelsea understood to have forged ahead in the transfer race.
