Dame Maureen Lipman returned to Coronation Street in 2018, sixteen years after her guest stint as Lillian Spencer on the programme. Since her arrival on the cobbles, Maureen has been a regular face in Weatherfield. The ITV favourite, 79, opened up about her appearance in a resurfaced interview three years ago. While the Evelyn Plummer star has never considered going under the knife she admitted there is one area she would like to change. The small-screen star said while watching the ITV soap she had noticed bags under her eyes that she would gladly have "tidied up".
When quizzed about whether she ever had plans to have plastic surgery, Maureen told the Daily Mail: "No, but I might have the bags under my eyes tidied up. I sometimes watch myself under the harsh lightning of Coronation Street and I can get a bit neurotic about how I look."
The much-loved actress recently opened up about the possibility of retiring.
Speaking on the 20 Questions podcast ahead of her 80th birthday next year, she said: "I will carry on, as much as I'm wanted, I'll carry on until my brain goes - or my legs.
"You can only take what you're offered. It's not been a career where I've thought, 'Shall I take the Bond film? Or shall I do the play The Cherry Orchard?' I'm more likely to be asked to be in Carry On Columbus. That's because I'm a bit light entertainment.
"So a lot of work is not coming my way, am I bitter? No, I'm not, I've always worked, I've worked though two pregnancies and young children, I've worked through good times and sad times."
Elsewhere, the actress had reason to celebrate as she makes a guest appearance in a much loved show.
Filming has wrapped on the 13th series of BBC drama Father Brown, which follows a Roman Catholic priest played by Harry Potter star Mark Williams as he fights crime in the fictional village of Kembleford in Gloucestershire.
Maureen is among the guest star appearances in the new series.
