Ranvir Singh has shared a worrying update, causing her to be inundated with support, as she shared some pictures of her in a hospital bed. The 47-year-old, who often steps in for on the Scottish host's self-named ITV show, explained that she had been rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening for emergency surgery.
Posting to Instagram, she shared a snap of her looking glamorous in a white suit as she posed in the hallway of the . In the other images, she looked a bit worse for wear as she was hooked up to medical equipment, including a drip in her arm. Explaining what had happened, she wrote: "Had a fab time as always hosting @lorraine last Wednesday wearing this gorgeous linen white pinstripe suit, felt a bit drained and foggy in the morning but nothing a couple of coffees couldn't sort out."
She continued: "I'm off air - all good - at 1030am I feel this sudden stomach ache. I stay in bed all day. Turns out I had a ruptured appendix and had urgent surgery at midnight on Thursday! Woke up 5am on Friday morning, high on anaesthetic and certain I could get into work to host the show as normal [laughing emoji]...
"Pretty nasty few days, the bacteria had spread and infected my blood etc and told to take this week off by @jadeens I'm sore and shuffling around, can't drive for a week, and no exercise for 4 weeks (!) so really it's the boredom that will kill me! Ps. Anyone else have this horrendous shoulder pain afterwards? It's mad isn't it!"
Some of her friends and co-stars rushed to share their support for Ranvir. Posting in the comments, GMB star Alex Beresford wrote: "Awwww wishing you a speedy recovery xxxx."
star Bradley Riches added: "Sending my love xoxoxo," while I'm a Celeb star Melvin Odoom simply put an ok-sign emoji. Fans joined in on the well wishes, with one writing: "Wishing you a swift and full recovery." Another added: "Get well soon! Take it easy!" As a third said: "Hope you feel better soon."
Lorraine faced a presenter shake up on Friday after Ranvir pulled out from her presenting duties last minute - with the reason now being evident. Regular viewers were taken aback when they tuned in to find Andi Peters at the helm after Ranvir had to pull out due to illness.
He shared a message with the audience, saying: "First thing's first, I've just got to say get well soon to Ranvir, who can't be here today." Injecting some humour into the situation, he joked, "Which is why they've drafted in a man in a bright orange shirt, just to make sure you're awake this morning." He also sent a loving message, "Get well soon Ranvir, we send you all of our love."
