Newly-released thriller Lazarus is now ready to watch on Prime Video with fans keen to discover where this gripping drama was filmed.
The plot unfolds following the death of Dr Jonathan Lazarus (portrayed by Bill Nighy), when his son, forensic psychiatrist Joel Lazarus (played by Sam Claflin), begins to experience visions of victims from unsolved murder cases dating back years.
These chilling visions lead Joel to investigate not only these unresolved deaths, but also the mysterious demise of his father and sister during their teenage years.
The six-part thriller is a unique creation from best-selling author Harlan Coben, who has a string of Netflix successes under his belt, including Stay Close, The Stranger, and Fool Me Once.
Coben collaborated with BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst for Lazarus, which delves into dark themes such as generational trauma and loss, subjects that resonate deeply with Coben.
Harlan Coben's Lazarus was shot in various key locations across the north west of England, including Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire, and Bristol.
Manchester served as a crucial filming location, with scenes captured around King Street, Ducie Street, and Chinatown, while in Liverpool, the Georgia Quarter, Sefton Park, and Stanley Dock were utilised.
Additionally, filming took place at The Midland Hotel in Morecambe, Lancashire, and parts of Bristol were cleverly used to mimic London and other European settings.
Executive producer Nicola Shindler revealed to Screen Time the reasons behind choosing certain locations for filming Lazarus.
Shindler explained: "As a production company, we are based there so it makes sense financially and practically to film there and also we have great locations.
"I think you see in Lazarus, more than anything we've done, the scale of the buildings and the architecture and filming between Manchester and Liverpool which we did on this one.
"We just managed to get a real sense of scale which isn't always how the North West is put on screen.
"So to have that vision of Wayne Yip who's our director who is absolutely brilliant, opening up those locations, I think it looks huge."
Lazarus is available to watch on Prime Video.
