CM drives agri fairs, solar push to power up farming sector

Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav announced on Sunday that agricultural fairs showcasing advanced farming practices will be held across various districts in the next eight days.

Aimed at boosting farmers' incomes, the fairs will feature improved techniques, quality seeds, the latest equipment, and information about government schemes to support better management of farming and horticulture. Yadav also urged farmers to make full use of the ‘KUSUM-C' scheme, which offers substantial subsidies for operating solar pumps.

Yadav emphasised that farming today is impossible without electricity, and the state government is moving to make farmers self-reliant in energy production.

Under the KUSUM-C scheme, the govt will ensure its implementation across the state so that farmers can generate their own electricity. Farmers are already receiving substantial assistance through electricity subsidies, which is a major support initiative by the govt.

The chief minister said assistance was being provided to farmers for installing solar pumps to operate agricultural equipment. Registrations for booking solar pumps require only 10% of the pump's cost. Registrations have begun for solar pumps up to 3 horsepower in capacity. For pumps costing up to Rs 5 lakh, farmers need to pay just Rs 50,000, with the government guaranteeing the remaining Rs 4.5 lakh.

Yadav said the govt aims to register around one lakh farmers under this scheme. Priority will be given to those who had registered earlier, followed by newly registered farmers. He asserted that through this initiative, farmers will achieve energy self-sufficiency and open new doors to prosperity. The state govt remains fully committed to the welfare and progress of farmers, he said.
