Mohali: The illegal construction of a notorious drug smuggler in Amlala village of Derabassi was pulled down by police Monday with the help of the district administration.
The smuggler, Salim Khan, is wanted in four cases registered in Punjab and Haryana under relevant sections of IPC and the NDPS Act .
He built the structure illegally on one bigha of panchayat land.
Police said the most recent case against him was registered on April 20 under the NDPS Act at Derabassi PS, and seven kg of ganja was seized from him. SSP (Mohali) Deepak Pareek warned drug smugglers to stop their illegal activities or they would face a similar action. He reiterated that the state govt is committed to eradicating the drug menace and would not spare anyone involved in it.
Monday's demilition drive was led by Bikramjit Singh Brar and Jaswinder Singh Gill, the DSPs of Derabassi and Zirakpur respectively, as part of the Punjab govt's war on drugs.
