Mohali: A teenager from UP was caught carrying an illegal pistol and two live cartridges in Kharar Monday.
He has been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, 19, from UP's Bareilly district and was staying in Zirakpur.
A case has been registered against him under the Arms Act, and the police have obtained his remand for further interrogation.
SSP (Mohali) Deepak Pareek said, "Dharmendra Kumar was arrested near Bhagat Ghat in Kharar. A .315 bore pistol with two live cartridges was seized from him. We are trying to find out where he got these from and what he intended to do with them."
