Kochi: Govt has allotted Rs 35 crore for constructing a seawall within Edavanakkad grama panchayat limits. For the project, which is expected to cost Rs 55 crore, steps were initiated to secure the remaining funds from National Disaster Management Authority, district administration informed.
Deadline for submitting applications for those who lost their homes due to sea erosion was extended to April 30. Officials from local self-govt department started assessing the damage, as requested by KN Unnikrishnan, MLA.
As part of the land bank project to resettle homeless tribal families from Chappa coastal area, the construction inauguration of boundary stones, internal roads and houses on the land purchased at Elankunnapuzha will take place by the end of May, Unnikrishnan informed. The MLA asked officials to expedite the work related to the project.
