Chatra: An 18-year-old girl was found unconscious in a secluded area in a village in Chatra district on Tuesday, bleeding.
Police and family suspect this is a case of gang rape. Villagers said the girl went to attend a wedding ceremony nearby at around midnight on Monday , but went missing since then.
Her elder sister said they started searching for her at Monday night, but she was not found anywhere. On Tuesday morning, a few children who went to the riverbank informed them that the girl was in the bushes near the river. The family members reached there in a hurry. The condition of the girl was found to be very critical, as bleeding suggested gang rape. A smartwatch, a piece of torn T-shirt, polythene of sweets, and a disposable glass were found at the spot. ASI of the local police station said the girl was taken to Hazaribag for treatment. He further said that the medical examination of the girl is being done. "Every aspect of the incident is being thoroughly investigated. We will reach a conclusion soon and are also waiting for the medical report," he added.
