Grammy Award winner and comedian Jack Black was among the many celebrities at the Crypto.com Arena when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the first-round matchups in the NBA Playoffs . And he didn’t miss the opportunity to reenact LeBron James ’ iconic “It’s our ball” moment, which went viral five years ago.

At one point, he aggressively yelled at the referee, shouting, “It’s our ball, ain’t it? It’s our ball! Hey! It’s our ball!” The video of James went viral at the time and has aged well.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ official YouTube page shared the video of Black recreating the moment, and fans couldn’t stop laughing all over again. The montage shows Jack Black’s version side-by-side with LeBron James’ original clip from five years ago, and it has already racked up over 2,24,000 views.


Reacting to it, a fan wrote in the comments section, “In all fairness to Jack, the Lakers lost Game 1, but he still went last night for Game 2. That’s a real fan right there.” Another said, “We need a Jack Black sports movie with him as coach.” Sharing a request, one fan wrote, “Jack Black needs to be courtside at all Laker games.” A comment also read, “This was funnier than expected.” Another added, “Still awesome and hilarious to this day.”

Many fans also pointed out that referee Rui is often the target of players' frustration in the NBA. One NBA fan commented, “Even Jack Black is getting mad at Rui too—goes to show he watches the games and knows who’s always getting yelled at.” Another added, “Everyone knows the whole team yells at Rui, even when he’s not on the team.”

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 117-95 in Game 1 but bounced back with a 94-85 win in Game 2. The Lakers will now try to take the lead in the series in Game 3 at the Target Center on Friday (EST).
