NEW DELHI: Justice Yashwant Varma of Allahabad High Court has filed a petition in the Supreme Court contesting the findings of the in-house three-judge inquiry committee and former CJI Sanjiv Khanna 's suggestion for impeachment proceedings .
In his petition, Justice Varma contends that the in-house inquiry committee did not provide him adequate opportunity to present his defence before reaching their conclusions.
The petition has been submitted before the commencement of Parliament's monsoon session, scheduled to begin on July 21.
The case stems from an incident on March 14 when fire services personnel reportedly discovered unaccounted cash at his Delhi residence during a fire outbreak. Videos of bundles of cash being recovered went viral.
At the time of the incident, Justice Varma was serving at the Delhi High Court and was not present at his residence.
