A mild earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale shook parts of the Jhajjar region on Sunday afternoon, causing brief tremors but no casualties.

The National Centre for Seismology said the quake struck at 4:10 pm, with its epicentre located 7 km east-northeast of Jhajjar at a depth of 10 km.

This is the latest in a series of tremors to hit the area in recent weeks. On 17 July, a 3.3 magnitude quake was recorded in areas adjoining Rohtak district, the third in the Rohtak-Jhajjar belt within just 10 days.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.7 had struck near Jhajjar, followed by a stronger 4.4 magnitude tremor that was felt across the national capital and neighbouring regions.
