NEW DELHI: India on Thursday rattled Pakistan amid strong signals of a buildup to a Pulwama-type retaliation, or even a stronger response, to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 innocent people.
The stage was set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who echoed the anger of the nation when he declared that "India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers" and will "pursue them to the ends of the Earth" to punish them "beyond their imagination."

- Keeping in abeyance the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960.
- Closing of integrated checkpost at Attari with immediate effect.
- Declaring defence, military, naval, and air advisors in the Pakistani high commission in New Delhi as persona non grata and given a week's time to leave India.
- Reducing the overall strength of the Pakistan high commission to 30 from the current 55.
- Withdrawing permission to Pakistani nationals to travel to India under the SAARC visa exemption scheme.
