US department of homeland security secretary Kristi Noem hit back at South Park’s humour as “lazy” and “petty” after the long-running animated show mocked her appearance in a latest episode.
The episode, titled “Got a Nut”, aired Wednesday night and portrayed Noem’s Botox wearing off. She is depicted as a glammed-up ICE agent who loves Botox, kills puppies, and arrests anyone who is Hispanic.
Noem said she hasn’t seen it, explaining she was too busy “going over budget numbers and stuff.”
“It never ends, but it’s so lazy to constantly make fun of women for how they look,” Noem, 53, said Thursday on Glenn Beck’s podcast as quoted by The New York Post.
“It’s always the liberals and the extremists who do that. If they wanted to criticise my job, go ahead and do that, but clearly they can’t, they just pick something petty like that.”
The episode aired just a day after Homeland Security used an image from the show to promote ICE recruitment . “We want to thank ‘South Park’ for drawing attention to ICE law enforcement recruitment: We are calling on patriotic Americans to help us remove murderers, gang members, pedophiles, and other violent criminals from our country,” the agency said.
“Benefits available to new ICE recruits include an up to $50,000 signing bonus, student loan forgiveness, and retirement benefits,” it added, as cited by The New York Post.
Noem is one of several Trump administration officials featured in the show’s 27th season. US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance also appear in the second episode, which shows a miniature Vance waiting on his “boss” Trump while he’s in bed with Satan.
The White House has previously condemned South Park as “irrelevant” and accused its creators of seeking attention after a string of episodes targeting Trump and his administration.
